The car was smoking like a chimney. What type of figurative language is this? What does it mean?

It would be a simile because it uses the words "like or as" to compare something. A metaphor compares something without using "like or as". This simile means the car had so much smoke rising from its hood, it seemed like a chimney, which smokes a lot when lit.
