For an nth term U(n) = a + (n - 1)d

n = number of terms

a = first term

d = common difference

a = 5

d = 2 - 5 = - 3

U(n) = 5 + (n -1)-3

= 5 - 3n + 3

= 8 - 3n

The formula for the sequence is 8 - 3n
